Hair Texture and Type
In this first module we dive deep into the basics of hair recognition. This is the first step to being able to care for your hair the way that it was designed to be maintained. We will discover each curl pattern and learn to identify the texture type, and much more.
Product Knowledge and Hair Maintenance
Our next module will take you through the ever expanding world of hair products and tools. Knowing which product to use with each particular hair texture and type will ensure you maintain your hair to remain is its most healthy state. Here you will learn which product works for your hair and each curl texture. We will explore application and the tools that you will need.
Choice of Hair Style
Summing up our modules is our favorite of all. We want you to be you, and we assist you to develop a consistent plan with a variety of styles that work for each occasion and situation. Finally you will possess the skills to care for each hair style you choose, and knowledge of how to properly maintain it nightly. This is what ties it all together. You will be able to walk around with whatever hairstyle you choose, and feel fearless!

How are the classes structured?
The Coil Academy is a 3 week hair course that teaches young African American girls ages 10-16 years old how to maintain, style and become comfortable with their natural hair coils on their own. We do this in one (6) six hour session, (1) one day per week. Typically from 10am - 4pm. Of course, times do vary, so be sure to confirm the appropriate times for the Academy you sign up.
